On 27th January, 15 years to the day after CDSB's formation, we hosted an event to celebrate the completion of our mission and the sunsetting of our organisation into the IFRS Foundation to support the work of the International Sustainability Standards Board.
On 31st January 2022, CDSB has officially closed its doors, and our team is stepping seamlessly over to join the IFRS Foundation to support the newly established International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) on 1st February, bringing with them all of the energy, expertise, and ambition that CDSB has deployed since 2007.
On the 27th of January, we hosted our final live webinar to reflect on some of the changes we have seen in sustainability reporting in that time, as well as CDSB’s own contribution to the global and ongoing shift in perspective and approach. We also took a look at the work that still needs to be done in the coming years, and what the ISSB is looking to achieve.
We heard from some of CDSB’s founding members, including CDSB Chair Richard Samans, CDP CEO Paul Simpson, CDSB Managing Director Mardi McBrien, CDSB Founding Director Lois Guthrie, as well as from some of our board members, allies, and key contributors over the years, such as New Zealand Minister for Climate Change, James Shaw and Mary Schapiro from the TCFD Secretariat.
The event also saw the launch of CDSB’s last publication on reporting social information in mainstream annual reports.
We were also delighted to be joined by the newly announced Chair of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Emmanuel Faber, who provided some insight into the ambitions of our future work at the ISSB.
