The World Economic Forum’s report on common metrics and consistent reporting is written in partnership with Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PwC.
The last two weeks have demonstrated a clear alignment from institutions and investors globally on the need for a comprehensive approach to climate-related reporting.
CDSB was born at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos in 2007 with the establishment of an international consortium of business and environmental NGOs to create a generally accepted framework for climate risk reporting by corporations – to account for tomorrow’s climate.
This latest report sets out 21 core and 34 expanded metrics and disclosures for sustainability reporting. Taken alongside our own announcement with CDP, GRI, IIRC and SASB, this is the next step in setting out the “natural building blocks of a single, coherent, global ESG reporting system.”
Mardi Mcbrien, Managing Director at CDSB, said:
“We are focussed at CDSB on providing clear guidance to companies globally on how to incorporate climate related issues into mainstream reporting. Setting out core metrics for companies to report on is a vital part of this endeavour, and this work builds on the momentum that has already been created this year. The pandemic provides a stark reminder of the pressing need for action in this area, and we are looking forward to further announcements that build upon the work already done, in the near future.”
