With the launch of the expanded CDSB Framework, we turn our focus to developing enabling conditions for increasing its implementation globally.
On 8th June CDSB has taken a crucial step towards achieving its mission to provide decision-useful environmental information to markets. The expanded Framework provides something that didn’t exist before: a comprehensive framework for reporting environmental information & natural capital in a company’s mainstream report, such as the Annual report, Form 10-K/20-F or other.
The launch of the Framework only marks the beginning. We will now focus on ensuring that companies have the right policy framework and resources to provide the best possible information to their investors in their mainstream reports. Here are a few examples of how we’ll work to achieve this:
We will focus on providing real-life case studies of leading companies using the Framework. If your organisation is interested in participating, please get in touch.
We will work in the European Union and Member States to work towards consistent reporting requirements across the region as the transposition of the EU Non-Financial Reporting Directive progresses. The expansion of the Framework was heavily influenced by the Directive and we hope that companies will find it useful when complying with its requirements.
We will work towards providing a structured way of receiving feedback from us on companies’ reporting. We receive requests to review annual reports on a regular basis and we want to make sure that we can provide the best possible feedback.
Last but not least, we will continue to be the voice of the private sector on the international level at COP. We have big plans to feature the Statement on fiduciary duty & climate change disclosure in the run-up to Paris to show that businesses and investors see the market value of addressing climate change and are here to be part of the solution.
These are just a few work streams that we will be working on this year. We are very excited about the future and we hope that you will support us in our endeavours. If you are interested in any of the above, please feel free to get in touch with me or my team – collaboration is at the heart of CDSB’s method.
Jane Stevensen is the Managing Director of CDSB.
